LEDs are not only fast becoming the greatest thing to hit the lighting industry, but they are also endlessly fascinating to look at. These solid and nearly heat less bulbs require only a fraction of the power it takes to light them compared to conventional lighting.

This, combined with the fact that the industry is making advances that are putting their pricing at last in line with traditional bulbs, these marvels are quickly becoming a viable and affordable alternative. LEDs also have the ability to be more versatile in that they can come in a variety of exotic colors, and they remarkably can even contain properties enabling them to function as controllers.

When installed properly LEDs can be combined to form lighting that when placed under your cabinet in your home can have a beautiful and classy look. When used in this way these lights are not just useful, they are also a wonder to look at.

2008 Lights Of America 1.5W LED Light Bulb Test

I’m assuming this was from 2008, as that’s the earliest date the product reviews (which are terrible by the way – all 1 star ratings) date back to. I found this lightbulb by blindly digging through a box of lightbulbs I have on my staircase when I was looking for a 60W bulb. I don’t even remember buying it. I decided to test it out. It just plain sucks. It’s only good for mood lighting, not actual “let me turn this light on so I can see what I am doing” kind of lighting. Video filmed on: 7/27/2011 7:47 PM & 7/28/2011 12:13 AM

There are ten desks mounted on aluminium poles. The desk surfaces can be positioned at any height and rotated around the pole. The iMacs are mounted on multi-jointed monitor arms that can be adjusted to any position. The poles are arranged to enable students to work in groups by swivelling their desks towards each other. Mains and data are delivered from the ceiling by cables attached to the poles.

There is a wide-screen, short throw projector used with a wide-screen interactive digital whiteboard. A large plasma screen is used for multi-media teaching. There is a high quality sound system using ceiling mounted speakers. The room is sound-proofed.

The lecturer has access to an iMac and Mac Pro (and a laptop or visualiser if necessary), each of which can be directed to either the data projector or plasma screen (or both).

I was trying to cultivate a relationship with a bird in his nest who had a delicious wormy dinner in his mouth, but he was not happy with my intrusion and flew off; I turned around and found this little friend instead. Unfortunately he was in direct sunlight, I had to tone him down with processing and this is my best effort. Ah the wonders of the digital era!

Question by Divva: Should kitchen cabinet knobs and lighting match appliances?
I am sprucing up my kitchen. The cabinets are an oak color. The walls are a khaki/tan color (Sherwin Williams Latte) http://www.myperfectcolor.com/PhotoDetai… I’m adding new ceramic floors (probably like Roman gold or American Olean Hazelnut – still debating that). My fridge is stainless steel. I’ll be adding a stainless steel stove and eventually as money permits a matching microhood and dishwasher.

I need new lighting and am going with track lighting to spread the light around. In the eat in, I’m changing the pendant to another (it’s awful gold and frosted dome now). I’m also adding knobs to the cabinets.

Question: I like the dark bronze lights. Should the lights match the appliances in a nickel or something? Should the knobs also match the appliances? I’m thinking the dark color lends to the floor, cabinet and wall color, but I’m not sure if they will have to match the appliances?

FYI: the kitchen accessories are red.

Some people do tend to stay in the same color tone. At times that can be a little over done. The stainless fixtures would break up the overdone thing and serve as great accents that would compliment each other. I’ve been dealing with these issues for a while and suggest the latter but it still boils down to your individual taste.

LED Desk Lamp

LED Desk Lamp www.ergonomics.co.uk/Diasonic_Desk_Lamp.html A smooth, elegant LED desk lamp which also has a USB-charger for charging mobile devices. The LED desk lamp has adjustable brightness in 5 steps, with variable color modes for Study, Reading, Relaxing and Sleep. It has extremely low power consumption and a one hour shutdown timer.

SolaroEnergy.com 1-888-355-5SUN Today – LED Tube lamps T8 retrofits are becoming very popular in the fluorescent retrofit lighting market. Unlike fluorescent lamps, LED lamps require a small driver to regulate the flow of DC power through the lamp. However, a LED lamp converts electrical power into useful light more effectively than a fluorescent lamp. Retrofit any current fluorescent T8, T10 or T12 bulb you currently have over to an energy efficient LED Tube bulb in no time at all! Lower energy cost helps offset the higher initial cost of the LED light lamp. Many T8 tube lamps can be found in large commercial or school buildings and the LED lamps are now being used as the energy-saving alternative to mercury filled fluorescent lamps models currently available. Compared with fluorescent lamps, LED lamps use less power for the same amount of light, last up to 3 times longer, stop potential fluorescent headaches, emits full spectrum natural light, contain no toxic mercury, and use no ballast that can fail that also generates high heat levels demanding more air conditioning for a room.
